One Design Format

The Phantom Cup will consist of a series of races in key countries around the world. The objective is to further stimulate enjoyable and economical One Design racing, both easily accessible as well as challenging at the high end competition level. The first Phantom Asian Championships took place in Asia’s largest and most famous sailing regatta; Thailand’s King’s Cup December 1st to 6th 2012.

Each National Phantom Cup consists of a minimum of 3 events throughout the season. Regardless, if the number of National events exceeds the minimum, only the 3 best scores (per competitor) – in addition to the National Championship - shall count at the overall ranking. Points accumulated in countries other than the competitors origin, shall count at the overall ranking.

It is up to the discretion of the organizers to choose between desired disciplines like course racing, slalom and long distance – or a combination as seen fit considering conditions, number of competitors and time frames.

All  Phantom 295 races shall be ONE FLEET events (unless the number of entries calls for divisions for safety and/or practical reasons) and awarded overall, as well as separately for each weight group/ division in accordance with class rules.

The use of standard sail sizes according to Class Rules is mandatory for each age and gender division.

The International ranking list will be updated monthly or subsequent to any international event.

The overall winners of the Worlds, Continentals and National Phantom Championships (referred to as Phantom Games) shall be regarded as Phantom Class International and National Champions respectively.

Open Class Format

When racing in Open Class fleets, (eg. Raceboard 310) the rules of such Open Classes shall apply.

The scoring of Phantom competitors in Open Fleets shall reflect their overall placing within the fleet.

The scores accumulated in Open Fleets shall be awarded base Ranking points according to Event status (Worlds, Continentals, Nationals or local events).

The complete number of competitors, regardless of brand, shall determine the reversed scoring.
