From the 17th to the 23rd of August 2013, the Cercle de Voile of Martigues hosted the 2013 French Youth Championships. The Phantom 295 was there for participants of the Raceboard Hybrid division and captured quite a crowd! The wind only allowed to run two races on the first day and unfortunately there were no races conducted on the second and last day due to lack of wind. Despite the light winds, the first Country Garden Open Championships saw a turn out of 20 registered participants, mostly coming from Singapore and from Malaysia… [...]
We windsurf because it’s fun, we compete because it’s fun. Why not simply have both on one set of One Design gear? That’s what we set our mind on when we designed the new Phantom 295 class.
Conditions were far from perfect here in Monfalcone today, but there is always the fun factor which makes events like this memorable. Patience paid of and later in the afternoon again two light wind races were held; rankings will be updated shortly.
Just a little bit of the good ol’ planing here and there this afternoon, after the breezes kicked in. We are all expecting to use more of the planing enhancements pretty soon though. In the meantime, two races were sailed in both fleets and the results are starting to shape up. First day of Racing saw one race, and Remi Vila, head of Racing R&D at Starboard, talking about the design of the Phantom 295 and its goals. But unlike the Phantom Race 377 that allows for several models to compete in its class, the Phantom 295 is aimed at the youth and more importantly, is a one-design class racer.
